It's been a popular spot to end a night out for generations of drinkers in Helston, but now it looks as though it really is the end of an era.

The Trelawney's building at 25-27 Coinagehall Street has been put up for auction at the end of this month.

Last month it was announced that the nightclub and bar would be closing its doors at the end of June.

At that time it was unclear what the future held for the building.

Now, however, the freehold of the three-storey town centre venue, which includes bars, a dance floor, cloakrooms, toilets and offices, is up for auction with a guide price of £250,000 to £275,000.

The building also includes staff accommodation, with four rooms, a bathroom and kitchen on its second floor.

It is one of the 118 lots in the next Clive Emson Auctioneers auction, which ends on Thursday, July 28.

Senior auction appraiser Dave Henwood said: “This attractive double-fronted building offers substantial accommodation over three floors.

“Some parties may consider continued use in a similar guise to its previous use but there is also potential for some form of mixed-use conversion scheme with multiple units, subject to the necessary consents.”

The auctioneers said that the building was most recently let at £26,00 per annum.

Last month the bar issued a statement on its Facebook page saying: "We are very upset to announce that we will be closing down as of next weekend due to unforeseen circumstances.

"The whole Trelawney’s team are thankful for the support over the past almost three years and are very upset to be closing our doors."

The nightclub, which has been formally known as Big T's and The Boxx over the years, has always one of the popular places to go at the end of a night out in Helston.
