On another sun-drenched day at Pennance, home of Falmouth Golf Club. 80 members teed it up, for the Bearne Cup. Mike Davies won the trophy with a fine net 64 with respective nines of 31 and 33 including a birdie at the 11th.
Runner up was Malcolm “Bert” Coulls with a net 66 including a birdie at the 16th and nines of 31 and 35. Third was Steve Jones also with a net 66 including a birdie at the first and nines of 30 and 36.
Archie Fox returned the best gross score of the day with a one over par 71 (net 67).
Archie carded birdies at fifth and a birdie two at the 12th holes. Other two`s were jotted down by Paul Syer at the second. Graham Heard and Luke Geach at the seventh and Steve Thomas who enjoyed “ the hole of the day” with an “eagle” two at the eleventh which was the easiest hole of the day averaging +0.18.
The most difficult hole was the par four, fourteenth hole which yielded just one birdie. Altogether there were 56 birdies during the competition.
