An anti-social behaviour notice has been issued to a person in Falmouth, for how they were riding a motorbike around the town centre.

Police said the rider had been driving it "at speed" in residential areas, as well as where people were waiting for a bus.

If the rider continues to drive the motorbike, or any other vehicle, in this way, they risk having it seized.

They have been issued with a Section 59 notice, which is the equivalent of an anti-social behaviour order that relates to vehicles when they are being used in a way that "causes alarm, distress or annoyance".

Police described it as "a powerful tool" – particularly where there are loud exhausts involving, if actions are upsetting residents, of there are concerns over "significant danger to those involved."

Falmouth Police said they would continue to monitor the area and "deal robustly" with anything they found.

The Falmouth and Helston Police neighbourhood team said: "On Sunday, August 28 Falmouth Police issued a Section 59 Police Reform Act 2002 notice to a motorbike user.

"This was due to the motorbike being ridden around Falmouth town centre in an anti-social manner, driving at speed in residential areas and where members of the public were waiting for a bus.

"The notice is a powerful tool for police to tackle anti-social behaviour around vehicles, as if the rider drives this or other vehicles similarly in the future police officers have the power to seize it.

"Falmouth Police are aware that anti-social behaviour and loud exhausts are causing distress to residents and that there are concerns around significant danger to those involved. We will continue to target the area and deal robustly with any offences.
