A SELECTION of the Duchy's best chefs will be co-hosting a special charity dinner at a Truro hotel.

On Thursday 13th October, the team behind The Fishermen’s Mission will be heading to The Alverton, based in the heart of Truro, to co-host a celebratory evening of Cornish food and drink that will highlight the important work they do and raise much needed funds to help them continue to deliver their mission across the county.

In a celebration of Cornwall’s coastline, some of the county’s top chefs will be taking over The Alverton’s kitchen for the evening, including St. Enodoc’s Guy Owen, Kota’s Jude Kereama, The Rick Stein Group’s Stephane Delourme and The Alverton’s very own Executive Chef, Nick Hodges.

The chefs will be preparing a five-course menu to be served in the hotel’s Great Hall, which dates back all the way to 1830.

Alongside the five-course menu curated by the county’s top chefs, guests who purchase a ticket for this event can expect to enjoy a complimentary Salcombe Gin and tonic upon arrival, listen to the sounds of a traditional Cornish Sea Shanty group and deepen their knowledge of Cornwall’s fishing industry with a special talk hosted by BBC Radio Cornwall’s Daphne Skinnard.

Thanks to the donation of some incredible prizes, the evening will end with a special charity auction that includes a signed rugby shirt by the Irish and British Lions Squad, a signed racing helmet from Olympian Sir Ben Ainslie, a night’s stay, and a dining experience at The Greenbank and Alverton hotels and lots more.

Speaking about the event, The Fishermen’s Mission fundraising manager for Cornwall and Devon, Julian Waring, said: "We’re really looking forward to the celebration of Cornish produce in what is an incredible venue, The Great Hall at The Alverton.

"On behalf of the charity, I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and raising vital donations to support fishing families in need."

Since 1881 The Fishermen’s Mission has delivered vital support to fishermen, their families and communities.

With more than 13,000 people working in fishing across the UK, the charity strive to alleviate loneliness and improve welfare in fishing communities through providing emergency response to those in need, all year round.

Tickets cost £69 each, with a portion of each ticket going toward The Fishermen’s Mission charity.
