Some shiny new electric bikes have taken up residence at the Budock Vean Hotel on Cornwall’s Helford River, ready to give Autumn’s visitors a bit of back-up as they explore the sights and delights of this spectacular (but hilly) part of the world.
The e-bikes are the result of a partnership between the Budock Vean and EBike Cornwall – allowing guests to peddle off from the front door and eat up the miles of coast and countryside around the Helford and Falmouth Bay area, or further afield for the more adventurous, for journeys as energetic or as effortless as they fancy.
“Cornwall’s ups and downs are what make our coast and countryside so beautiful but they’re also what can make ordinary cycling here pretty challenging,” says the Budock Vean’s owner Martin Barlow.
“Our new e-bikes are a brilliant addition to the activities we offer: as well as exploring the Helford by kayak, paddle board or river-boat from our private cove, or the loveliest walks around the Helford Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our guests can now hire an e-bike and get much further afield without resorting to the car.”
The circular routes proposed from the Budock Vean include the scenic South Helford via a ferry ride across the river, Falmouth via coves, beaches and Henry VIII’s Pendennis Castle and the picturesque waterside villages of Flushing and Mylor.
Shawn Gimbert from EBike Cornwall says, “Powerful electric bikes are a fantastic way to get more people out of their cars and onto the open road exploring epic Cornwall in a fun, healthy and sustainable way.
“Electric motors help make cycling more inclusive - mixed groups and generations can ride together, even in hilly Cornwall, which we love.”
