Falmouth Fire Station has announced details of its annual charity firework display for this year.
Saturday, November 5 will once again see Falmouth’s firefighters lighting up the sky.
Falmouth Firefighters Social and Welfare Club will join members of Falmouth Cricket Club to host this year’s event at Falmouth Cricket Ground in Trescobeas Road. Gates will open at 6pm for a 7pm start.
Chaos Radio will be providing entertainment while people arrive and spectators are encouraged to arrive in good time to enjoy a hotdog, burger, hog roast or a doughnut amongst other refreshments. There will also be a children’s fairground ride.
Giles Kent, show organiser, said: “This year will see £7,000 worth of fireworks being let off to music. “This is guaranteed to be one of the largest displays in the county, with a very explosive line up of fireworks; this is one the largest and most expensive displays we have put on said.
“Gates will open at 6pm for a 7pm start; I would encourage people to get there in good time, as huge crowds arriving at 7pm make it very difficult for us to get everyone into the ground on time.
“Also there is no car parking on site at this event, so please allow for this in advance.
“Come and join us and enjoy this very special evening.”
Entry will remain at £4 for adults and £2 for children, which must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. It is cash only on the gate.
Local charities and good causes are invited to apply to be considered for a share of the proceeds from the community event. A small proportion of any proceeds will go to support the activities of the Social and Welfare Club, including the costs of hosting the firework event.
Thanks to the continued support of the local community, last year’s event raised more than £6,000 to be shared among local charities and good causes.
“We invite applications from community groups and charities, in writing, to the Social and Welfare Club at Falmouth Fire Station,” added Mr Kent.
