The Budock Vean on the Helford River is celebrating being named among the best hotels in Cornwall as it reaches the finals of the 2022 Cornwall Tourism Awards.
The independent, family-owned country house hotel nestled within the Helford Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – no stranger to local, regional and national awards - has been announced as one of three finalists in the "Large Hotel" category.
The Budock Vean’s achievement recognises the "gold top" standard of customer service at the 65-acre Helford riverside estate, along with the strength and commitment by owner Martin Barlow and his 85-strong team to go "over and above" for their guests – as well as a commitment to the environment and community.
"We work as such a fantastic team and our ethos is always to give our guests – many of whom visit us year after year - the very best experience in this most beautiful part of the world," says Martin.
"Winning a place in the final is a real tribute to the hard work, dedication and investment we have all put in – especially as we look back on the good spirits and swift reactions which prevailed right through the challenges of the pandemic and beyond.
"We will be celebrating together!"
After three months of judging, 63 finalists have been announced across 23 categories in the Cornwall Tourism Awards, covering everything from active experiences, dog friendly venues and cafes to glamping, hotels and pubs.
The Budock Vean and other successful businesses in the Cornwall Awards will be fast tracked into the South West Tourism Excellence Awards next March and possibly invited to represent Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in the 2023 national Visit England Awards, in which Cornwall has often been a top performing county.
This year’s Cornwall Tourism Awards will be presented during a black-tie dinner at Truro Cathedral on the evening of 17 November 2022, with a Winner of Winners title, a Tourism Leadership award and special Outstanding Contribution to Tourism award also presented on the night.
