A WEATHER warning has been put in place across Cornwall as "very heavy rain and squally winds are likely to cause some disruption."
The MET Office has put out a yellow weather warning in place for most of the South West from 6pm tonight as very heavy rain and winds are expected to batter the Duchy and much of the South West, stretching as far as Southampton.
According to the MET Office, some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely, with bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer.
Spray and temporary flooding on roads is likely to make journey times longer and delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are also likely.
The MET Office is also warning of some short term loss of power and other services being a possibility.
A spokesperson for the MET Office said: "A band of rain and gusty winds will move east during Monday evening.
"For most this will simply be a period of normal, unpleasant autumn conditions.
"However, for some a short period of very heavy rain and very strong winds is possible bringing gusts of 50-60 mph temporarily and perhaps 70 mph on some exposed coasts as well as 20 mm of rain within an hour.
"There is also a chance of hail and lightning in a few places as an additional hazard."
