UPDATE: The road has now reopened

A DIVERSION has been put in place after an RTC on the main road between Truro and Falmouth meant the route had to be closed.

The road traffic collision took place on the A39 between the Norway Inn and Devoran just before half ten this morning and the road was subsequently closed by police.

Two people were reported to have sustained injuries and a woman had to be extracted from her vehicle before being taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Traffic is slow through the diverted route passing Perranwell Station with the incident affecting traffic between Perranarworthal and Devoran.

Cornwall Council has warned that traffic may be adversely affected for some time and is warning travellers to avoid the area if possible.

Devon and Cornwall Police told The Packet: "Police received reports of a collision between two vehicles on the A39 near Truro at around 10.25am.
