For the second time, Wendron Utd had five Saturday games and all matches were completed, despite resources being stretched to the limit, writes Joss Bray.
The main match at Wendron was its second team, playing the fast-improving Perranwell First, in the St. Pirans League.
The Wendron team has been on a six-game unbeaten run, culminating in a 7-2 away win, at Saltash Borough, in the League Cup.
Perranwell was represented by three former Wendron players, Chris Madeley, Matthew Rose & James Rowberry.
In the first half, Wendron took the lead from a corner, when Tyler Oliver reacted first in the six-yard box to prod the ball home.
With half-time approaching Cameron Searle cut in from the left and curled the ball into the far corner, for a 2-0 lead at the interval.
Wendron had been the better team in the first half but Perranwell came out more determined in the second and reduced the arrears through Chris. Madeley.
From that point, Wendron had to defend resolutely but conceded in the last 10 minutes.
The goal was scored by Perranwell's Danhi Harvey, who had been a threat on the left all afternoon.
A 2-2 draw was a fair result.
Tyler Buckley & Tom Fisher both performed well for Wendron and young Darcy Knibb was close on three occasions, with shots that just went wide of the posts.
Wendron Utd's first team are unbeaten in the SWPL for 13 matches, have six consecutive wins & have scored 15 goals in the last four matches, with four consecutive clean sheets.
On Saturday they played St. Austell AFC away and, for the second consecutive week, recorded a 4-0 score-line, the win taking them to the top of the SWPL.
Wendron Utd are in the Senior Cup quarter-final and have drawn Penzance AFC, with the game to be played in January 2023.
