TRURO City Council has shared a tribute to a former mayor who passed away aged 82 on December 1 2022 after a short illness.
Ros Cox was a former Mayor of Truro and chairman of Carrick District Council.
During her time as mayor, Mrs Cox oversaw a number of initiatives including a 'Tenants' Charter' for Council tenants, the opening of RV Care Cornwall, and the launch of the Truro mayor's charity day.
She would also meet the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh when they visited in 2006 as part of the Royal couple's welcoming party.
In the tribute, which was shared on its social media page, Truro City Council said: "We are saddened to learn of the passing of former Truro City Councillor and Mayor of Truro, Ros Cox.
"Mrs Cox first joined the council in 1987 and served for 34 years.
"She was elected as Mayor in 1999-2000, and again in 2009-10.
"During her time in office, she introduced a Tenants' Charter for Council tenants and was known as a fierce fighter for fairness for all.
"Our thoughts are with her family at this time."
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, December 16, at Trelawny Chapel in the Penmount Crematorium.
