Christmas well and truly arrives in Falmouth today for the return of the town's Festive Weekend.
Funded and coordinated by the Town Team, visitors to Falmouth town centre will have the chance to skate on an artificial ice rink, ride aboard the festive land train, experience snowy streets or take a picture from inside the snow globe.
Businesses will be getting into the spirit with themed window displays and local choirs and bands lined up to perform both days.
The weekend activities will run from midday until 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday, subject to the weather, with people advised to follow social feeds for further information.
What's on over the weekend
• An artificial ice rink will be installed on Discovery Quay (Events Square). Skates are provided, and there will be skate aids available for those who require them. (£2 per skate session)
• Bring the family for a stroll along a snowy Church Street!
• Hop inside the Snow Globe for a creative selfie which will be located on The Moor (£1 per session)
• Climb aboard the festive land train which will run on a constant loop between The Moor and Events Square. Get on at either end. (£2 per ride).
Money raised from the snow globe, ice rink and festive land train will go back into the Christmas pot for 2023, thereby helping to sustain future festive activities for the town.
To celebrate Falmouth’s Festive Weekend, there will also be free entry into the Maritime Museum for any Cornish resident.
Miracle Theatre has confirmed that Father Christmas will be borrowing their eye-catching pink van for people to engage with on The Moor. They are also inviting people to donate any unwrapped gifts to help Santa spread a little joy to local families.
Gifts can be suitable from baby to teen and can include non-perishable foods.
Donations will be distributed to various charitable centres including Falmouth Children Centre, The Food Bank, Dracaena Centre & Simon House.
