FALMOUTH has quite a selection of bars and restaurants for guests and locals alike to choose from, but new kid on the block, Marina Turkish Kitchen, sets the bar high when it comes to delicious food at a reasonable price.

We were shown to our seats by a smiling waiter who promptly returned once we were settled to take our drinks order.

My partner kept things basic with a Coke whereas I went for the ever-so-slightly more adventurous Efes Draft lager, not a beer I'd tried before, but one I certainly would have again.

We settled on our starters as our drinks arrived, my partner chose stuffed vine leaves while I decided on the humus kavurma as well as the halloumi and sucuk combo.

The stuffed vine leaves came in four little parcels of vine-wrapped rice, onion, and parsley in a lemon juice and olive oil dressing and were absolutely delicious, with just the right amount of zing to leave you wanting more.

The humus kavurma could have done with slightly more of the pan-fried lamb that topped its humus, but this didn't detract from its taste and so, if not for my insatiable appetite, would have gone unnoticed on any other occasion.

The highlight of the starters was the halloumi and sucuk combo, which was made up of grilled halloumi cheese with a sliced, chargrilled spicy beef sausage, cooked to perfection and with a not-to-extreme kick of spice that complimented the halloumi very nicely.

For our mains, my partner went for the chicken shish, which was served on flatbread with rice and salad.

The chicken was expertly grilled, retaining a soft, moist, melt-in-your-mouth texture with an ever-so-slightly spiced flavour.

I decided upon the sarma lamb beyti, which consisted of Adana kebab wrapped in fresh bread and topped with tomato and butter sauce and served upon a bed of yogurt with rice and salad.

This was by far my favourite dish of the night, with the wrapped kebab filling every bite with a concoction of spices that combined with the tomato and butter sauce beautifully.

After finishing our mains and being thoroughly satisfied with the food we had been served, we decided it would be only right to finish the evening with a cocktail.

Before I could decide on my final drink, however, I noticed the word 'tiramisu' staring up at me from the dessert section of the menu, and had to indulge myself.

The tiramisu was one of the best I've had in my just over thirty years of eating, not too sweet, and with a consistency that equated to more than just flavoured cream, as can so often be the case with this dessert.

Overall, Marina Turkish Kitchen is a welcome addition to Falmouth and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something tasty to eat of an evening.
