Helston town will welcome its second late-night shopping event this evening, as some shops will remain open later for shoppers to make last-minute purchases.
Last week, Helston welcomed its first late-night shopping evening.
The event began with Christmas Carols performed by Nansloe Academy Children’s Choir, followed by Father Christmas introducing Helston's Town Mayor Tim Grattan-Kane, who welcomed everyone and officially opened the first of three Christmas Late Night Shopping evenings.
Gareth Looker, chair of Helston Chamber of Commerce, and organiser of the event, thanked the sponsors and supporters before announcing the schedule of activities happening in between shopping.
The shops in town have been decorated for the festive period from Poundstretcher at the bottom of Coinagehall Street up to The Lady Eve Vintage at the top of Meneage Street.
42 The Living Room had storytelling with puppets supporting the narration, which was said to be unique and theatrical, whilst the Fisherman’s Mission was hosting its annual Christmas gift-wrapping activity.
Next to Bowden’s Home Hardware, Whippletree Band performed while along Meneage Street, outside Boots, Helston Town Band serenaded shoppers with Christmas tunes. While the ladies of Acapella Sound performed Christmas classics.
Passing a lot more shops, next to The Lady Eve Vintage, in front of the VW Garage forecourt the Helston Chamber Choir sang two sets of carols.
The Nutcracker Trail will continue during the upcoming late-night shopping events. For those who would like to participate, Nutcracker maps will be available from Bowdens Home Hardware shops.
Participants will then have to look for ten shops that have a Nutcracker soldier displayed. Once the names of the shops are written down on the back of the map, they can then be handed to Gilchrist Exotics at the top of Coinagehall Street.
To enter the prize draw, win a family pass to Flambards and a £50 gift voucher of your choice at a participating store. As you shop, ask for a free voucher to enter the lucky draw for the Deluxe Festive Hamper filled with Champagne, Prosecco, and lots of festive goodies.
Some 32 businesses along Meneage Street and Coinagehall Street took part in the first of three Christmas Late Night Shopping.
Many of these shops will remain open for Christmas Late Night Shopping this evening, December 16 and again next Friday, December 23, from 5pm until late.
