Police have spoken more about an incident that closed one of the main roads through Camborne for almost 11 hours on Saturday.
There had been reports of a “police incident” in the town, with traffic monitoring system INRIX reporting: “A3047 Commercial Street one way street closed due to police incident from Commercial Street to Union Street."
Police have now said that officers were called to reports of an assault on Commercial Street at around 12am on Saturday, December 17.
One man was taken to hospital for treatment as a result.
A cordon was put in place while an investigation took place at the scene.
Local officers are now carrying out enquiries and are appealing for anyone information about what happened, both at the time of the reported assault and the moments leading up to it.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall police said: “A man in his 40s was taken to hospital. His injuries were described as not life-threatening.
“A police cordon was put in place, but the road was reopened again at around 10.45am.
“Local officers are undertaking enquiries.
