NEW affordable housing could soon be built across the Duchy alongside renewable energy investment as part of a recently won innovation award.
The Cornwall Pension Fund has won the Investment Innovation Award at the 2022 LAPF Investment Awards.
The Fund won the award for its multi-asset social impact fund, which has local investments; the first designed and implemented with an LGPS Pool.
The impact fund will result in £65m of new Affordable Housing being built in Cornwall, and £50m of Renewable Energy investment, £25m of which will be in Cornwall.
Cllr Jayne Kirkham, Chair of the Cornwall Pension Fund, said: “We are looking forward to the first homes being built and power being generated in Cornwall because of our Cornish pension scheme investment.
"It's such an exciting prospect that Cornish pension investors can reap the benefits of their investment and see something real and truly beneficial for their local area as a result.
"Our pension officers, in tandem with the Brunel Pension Partnership, have worked hard to craft a bespoke fund for Cornwall and I am very pleased that the groundbreaking work is being recognised through this award."
