A MAN from Cornwall is urging local people to keep an eye out for his small greyhound named Honey, who went missing on Boxing Day in Illogan.

Bryan Mills took Honey, who belongs to his 80-year-old mother, for a walk along Park Bottom in the Pool area, when the lead accidentally slipped out of his hand, and Honey became spooked by something and ran off.

Honey, who is an ex-racing greyhound, quickly bolted and Bryan said: "There was no hope of catching her, she covers a lot of ground quickly."

About an hour later, a post on Facebook said Honey was reportedly spotted near Cornwall College running along Tipton Road, however, there was no luck in catching her.

The next day, there was a report of a vague sighting of Honey at Tehidy Country Park, North Cliff.

After the plea on Facebook, people from across Cornwall have been out searching for Honey and sharing the post.

"She is a lovely dog, she was a racing greyhound for four years.

"Mum adopted Honey just before Christmas, she is a very clever and intelligent dog," added Bryan.

Honey is a tan and white small greyhound and was wearing a Burberry patterned coat when she went missing. She has tattooed markings on both ears from her greyhound racing days.

Bryan said: "She is a very quiet and relaxed dog. She's not overly nervous, but she is more likely to come to you if you gently lower yourself down, and call her name."
