THE White Tigers started the new year in style thanks to goals from Connor Riley-Lowe, Tyler Harvey and Adam Porter in what was a great game for the neutral.
Truro City kicked off at Bolitho Park and within ten minutes had already had two shots blocked by Tiverton goalkeeper Lewis Williams, with the away team having been called back for offside minutes earlier.
Truro’s Riley-Lowe saw a shot saved by the keeper with the rebound falling to Neal who rattled the cross bar with a second attempt.
The first goal came after 21 minutes when wingbacks Egan and Riley-Lowe combined with the later’s looping header dropping in at the back post.
Another goal for the White Tigers came five minutes later after Tiverton failed to clear their lines effectively and Tyler Harvey slotted home from close range.
The away team squandered a chance two minutes later after winning a free kick. Morison delivered into the box but Josh Jones can’t get his header on target and the ball sails over the bar.
Matt Briton was given a yellow card on the 30 minute mark for a foul on Ollie Haste, with a series of errors from the Tiverton defence lead to Adam Porter being one on one with keeper Williams, however, his effort goes well over the bar.
Truro City seemed to be in control heading into the end of the first half, firing off a series of shots in quick succession, none of which add to their tally.
Tyler Harvey received a Kyle Egan cross on the 38 minute mark, but Josh Jones shuts him down with a well-timed challenge. There were shouts for a penalty from Truro but the ref was having none of it.
Five minutes of additional time were added and Jamie Richards gave away a foul on the edge of the Tiverton box, with Will Dean's effort held by Lewis Williams.
As halftime came Truro were well in control with Tiverton failing to register a single shot on target.
Four minutes into the second half, Tiverton got back into the game with a goal from a corner.
Truro City’s Hamon punched away a corner that found its way to Tom who found himself some space and slotted it into the bottom left corner.
Tiverton’s comeback hopes took a knock, however, as three minutes later Truro City put another past Williams, Adam Porter making the most of a failed clearance and dinking it over the keeper into the top corner.
After the third goal, Truro looked to have retained control, working the opposition keeper with a number of efforts on goal, most notably a free kick which came from Josh Jones fouling Tyler Harvey. Jones escaped a booking but Williams was then booked for dissent.
Dan Sullivan replaced Ollie Knowles after 67 minutes before being booked no less than five minutes later.
With emotions running high, what was described as “a 20 man scrum” took place a challenge from Josh Jones on Tyler Harvey, both of whom are booked as a result of the scrap.
Heading towards the end of the second half, Truro broke away from a clearance on the 88th minute, with Porter driving down the middle. The ball is then played wide out to Tyler Harvey whose effort slams into the side netting.
Less than a minute later the action returns to the other end of the field with Lucas Vowles heading towards an empty net which is cleared off the line and out for a corner.
Tiverton once again brought themselves back into the game with Lucas Vowles heading the corner home to make it 3-2.
Five minutes of added time extend the 90 and Tiverton look to complete their comeback with a number of shots blocked before a Truro clearance finds Andy Neal whose attempt from 40 yards finds nothing.
The whistle blows for full time and the match ends, the final score left at 3-2.
