A rotary club in Helston has thanked participants and judges of a competition that raised more than £323 for charities.

Helston Cober Valley Rotary Club held an online charity photographic competition named Paws 4 a Cause.

Participants entered by sending in photographs of their cats and dogs in various categories, such as 'Perfect Puppy' which was given to Violet the black labrador, and Eddie Van Nevis took the first spot for 'Active Cat' award.

Organiser Tracey Scott said: “As this was the first online event we’ve held we really didn’t know how successful it would be.

“However more than £323 profit was made which will be divided between our two charities of ShelterBox and StreetVet.”

Tracey added: “A huge advantage of running an online competition is that we received entries not only from local people but nationally and internationally, with several coming from the USA and Portugal.
