A VIDEO taken by a local cafe owner has shown the 'rare' moment a large pod of dolphins was spotted off the Falmouth coast.
The footage, which was captured by Lee Alexander, owner of Cafe Kernow which is based at Pendennis Point, shows a large number of dolphins breaching the water along the Falmouth coastline.
According to Lee, several pods had been spotted over the past week, with 'hundreds' of dolphins being seen across five or six days.
You can view the footage below:
Lee told The Packet: "Me and my colleague Christine have been lucky to see 100s of dolphins in the bay over the last 5-6 days.
"We’ve seen small pods before but this is somewhat rare and a large super pod!"

Local photographer Emily O'Brien was also lucky enough to capture the dolphins as they made their way along the coast.
Emily explained: "It was taken from Pendennis point towards Gylly Beach, and there were multiple pods of common dolphins in a feeding frenzy!"
Several types of dolphins can be spotted in Cornwall including Common Dolphins, Bottlenose Dolphins, and Risso's Dolphins which tend to be more elusive.
Back in May of 2022, a rare 'super pod' of Dolphins was spotted in Falmouth Bay by wildlife cruise company AK Wildlife Cruise.
The company said at the time they believed it is the largest pod of Bottlenose Dolphins ever recorded on their trips and it was a "once in a lifetime" experience.
