A large dilapidated caravan abandoned in the layby above Falmouth Docks will have to be served with new removal notices.

The caravan was one of two left in the closed Ships and Castles car park that were served with notices by Cornwall Council to remove the vehicles by this Friday.

One of the caravans remains on the site with the notices still attached but the second caravan had the notices removed and was taken down to the lay-by where it was abandoned.

Falmouth Town Council’s environmental and education enforcement officer Tessa Marie said because the notices had been removed and the caravan moved they would probably have to be served again by Cornwall Council.

“I have contacted Cornwall Council to let them know it has been moved. Both caravans were scheduled to be moved this Friday," she said.

“Now it has been moved not sure what is going to happen. Because they have moved it to the layby it will have to be served with another seven day warning.

“It will be moved but I don’t know what Cornwall Council are going to do but they are going to get back to me on it.”

She says the other caravan is still in the Ship and Castles car park with the stickers attached but it hasn’t even got any wheels which is going to make it harder to remove.

All vehicles, including van dwellers, will have to leave the car park at the beginning of March when the site will be devolved to the town council.

It will in turn hand it over to community interest company Pendennis Leisure who are progressing plans to get the closed leisure centre reopened.
