WENDRON UTD 3 DOBWALLS AFC 0
Wendron United are now at a pivotal stage of the season and every point is vital in the race for the league title.
The young Dobwalls team started at a fast pace on Saturday. Brannon Roberts got into the penalty area and delivered a shot, which was destined for the corner of the net, until home keeper Ethan Fearn made a brilliant save, deflecting the ball around the post with his out stretched hand.
At the other end, right back Joe Chapman made a good run down the right and crossed to Josh Wood, who confronted by the keeper had his shot well saved.
When Dobwalls player Joseph Eke was injured he was substituted by Oscar Larrieu, who is the son of ex Plymouth Argyle goal-keeper Romain Larrieu.
On 30 minutes Wendron were awarded a free kick 30 yards out, which was taken by Jack Stocker, who produced a shot that sailed into the top corner.
Wendron's Ryan Reeve then broke clear and had his well struck cross shot well saved by Paul Thompson, the opposition goal-keeper, to leave the interval score 1-0.
The game was still in the balance and Charlie Castlehouse forced Ethan Fearn into a good save. Wendron responded when good interplay between Jack Stocker and Ryan Reeve set up Josh Wood for a run at the goal-keeper, but his shot was well saved.
The home team substituted Joe Souch for Chapman and Jacob Cleverly for Wood and then went 2-0 up. Joe Souch delivered a corner, which was headed in by Russell May, for a vital goal.
Wendron then began to dominate, with Charlie Young having two opportunities; one when he was clean through but his shot was blocked by the keepers legs. Jacob Cleverly then passed to Lucas Potts, who scored with a good low strike from outside the area, for a reward his outstanding performance deserved and a 3-0 scoreline.
Wendron United now have 57 points and have extended their lead over Wadebridge to six points with six league games to go, and have scored 76 goals with 27 conceded.
Next week they continue their challenge for the league title, when they play away to Camelford AFC.
