PARTICIPANTS are being sought to take part in a popular lantern parade in Helston in the lead-up to this year's St Piran's Day.
People who wish to take part in this year's Helston Lantern Parade are being urged to get in touch with organisers as up to 30 people are needed to volunteer for the event.
In order to assist with the event, organisers City of Lights are looking for 15 volunteers and 15 lanterns carriers to come along and help out with the popular event.
A spokesperson for Helston Town Council: "Helston Town Council has been contacted by the City of Lights who are organising the Helston Lantern Parade on the town’s behalf on Saturday, March 4 2023 at Coronation Park.
"The City of Lights is seeking 15 volunteers and 15 lantern carriers to assist with the delivery of the event.
"The volunteers would need to attend from 4:30pm until 8pm which includes an event briefing and the carriers would need to be present from 6pm to 7:30pm.
"If you’re interested in taking part in this wonderful event in either role contact trurocol@gmail.com ASAP"
A lantern-making workshop, organised by CAST, will be taking place before the event itself and is open to anyone who wishes to get involved.
In a social media posts advertising the event, a spokesperson for City of Lights said: "This is an open community workshop, inviting you to design and create your own lantern, to celebrate Helston and the St Piran's celebrations.
"Once you have created your lantern, you can then join the parade on Saturday 4th March 2023 at Helston Coronation Park and Boating Lake.
"We would like to thank Helston Town Council for funding these workshops."
