FALMOUTH Town Council has been granted unconditional planning approval to convert the first and second accommodation of The Old Post Office on The Moor for office use.

The application also proposed to licence part of the building for civil ceremonies.

In its initial application, Falmouth Town Council stated: “Falmouth Town Council propose to license part of the Old Post Office for Civil Ceremonies, taking place on the first floor in the Atherton Suite, which encompasses one space separated into two areas, conservatory and main room.

“Standing maximum occupancy for the venue is 200 however there is seating for 70 in each separate room.

“We do not have any official on-site parking spaces, however, there are a number of car parks close by and numerous on street parking options.”

In its letter granting unconditional approval, Cornwall Council’s chief planning officer said: “It must be noted that planning permission may be required to carry out Civil Ceremonies, if it is adjudged that a material change of use has taken place on the first and second floors of the building.

“Such an assessment would be based on the total number of Civil Ceremonies taking place within a calendar year.”
