FIGURES released by NHS Digital are shedding light on how long people in Cornwall are having to wait to see their GP, with nearly 20,000 people waiting over 29 days.
New data published by NHS Digital has shown that, in January 2023 alone, 19,082 people waited more than 28 days for a GP appointment.
Some of the practices with the highest numbers of people waiting over a month for an appointment included Oak Tree Surgery in Truro with 1,415, Carn to Coast Health Centres with 1,362, Petroc Group Centres with 1,128, Lander Medical Practice in Truro 1,107, and Helston Medical Centre with 1,049.
The data also showed which practices have the highest number of people getting same-day appointments, such as St Austell Health Group with 8,959, Carn to Coast Health Centres with 6,804, Rame Group Practice with 6,097, Atlantic Medical Group with 5,299, and Oak Tree Surgery with 5,231.

The data also shows which types of appointments were the most common amongst patients in Cornwall.
The most common types of appointments from patients in Cornwall are generaly routine consultations with 114,869 appointments, general acute consultations with 56,602 appointments, clinical trages with 54,247 appointments, and planned clinical procedures with 39,074 appointments.

Nationally, NHS Digital estimated 29.6 million appointments to have happened in January 2023, of which 74,000 were Covid vaccinations delivered by a practice/PCN.
Of those, 45.3% of appointments in January 2023 took place on the same day that they were booked, with 91.9% of people booking appointments in January 2023 attending them.
Of all the appointments booked in January 2023, 47.7% were carried out by a GP and 21.1% were carried out by nurses.
In total, approximately 69.4% of all appointments in January 2023 were carried out face to face.
