A teenager who assaulted a female police officer in a holiday park was found to have a knife on him when he was arrested.

Joshua Ky Thomas, 19, gave a care of address of GweaL Darras, Mabe Burnthouse, appeared at Truro Magistrates’ Court last week,

He pleaded guilty to the common assault of a PC Gough at Retanna Holiday Park, Underlane, Wendron on January 15, an emergency worker, acting in the exercise of her functions as a police officer Contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 and section 1 of the Assaults on Emergency Workers (Offences) Act 2018.

For this offence he was made the subject of a community order to undergo Mental Health Treatment by March 1, 2024 under the direction of We Are with You for 12 months.

He was also ordered to carry out unpaid work for 50 hours within the next 12 months. This work will be supervised by the responsible officer.

He was also ordered to pay PC Gough £200 in compensation and pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £114.

He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Defendant's guilty plea taken into account when imposing sentence.

Thomas also pleaded guilty to possession of a black handled kitchen knife in a public place on January 15 at Retanna Holiday Park.

For this offence he was made the subject of the same community order and the knife was ordered to be taken away from him.
