A 69-year-old woman suffered head injuries after falling on to rocks from a quay across the water from Mylor Harbour while out for a walk on Mother’s Day.
Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team were called to Greatwood Quay near Mylor on Sunday afternoon (March 19) after receiving reports that a woman had fallen from the coast path onto the rocks below, badly hurting herself.
Due to the oncoming tide and the remote location of the quay, they requested assistance from Falmouth Lifeboat (Inshore Lifeboat).
The station’s Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Robina Nixon Chard, with four crew members on board, launched at 3.54pm and arrived on scene at 4.04pm. Conditions were good with a light onshore wind and a calm sea.
Two crew members were put ashore to help Falmouth Coastguard Rescue stabilise the casualty.

The rescue team worked with the crew to get the woman onto a stretcher.
She was given a head dressing and then placed onto the lifeboat and was taken, along with three Coastguard Rescue Officers to continue casualty care, across the water to Mylor Yacht Harbour where she was handed over to ambulance paramedics to be taken to hospital.
The coastguard rescue team thanked members of the public that stopped to help and also to the water taxi at Mylor for its assistance. “It was very much appreciated,” they said.
The lifeboat was released from service at 4.56pm and returned to station at 5.08pm.
