The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for "heavy rain" which is set to affect some parts of Cornwall on Friday, March 31.

The warning is set to last 12 hours from 6 am in the morning to 6 pm in the evening.

Southern parts of Cornwall, such as Falmouth, are excluded from the warning area, with it impacting the area above Truro and into Devon.

In a statement, the Met Office said: "Heavy rain leading to some travel disruption and a chance of some flooding in a few places."

What do the different Met Office weather warnings mean?

In terms of what to expect the Met Office added:

  • Bus and train services will probably be affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray, standing water and some flooding on roads may make journey times longer

This yellow weather warning for rain follows a yellow weather warning for strong winds that was issued by the Met Office yesterday.

Wind gust speeds above 40mph are expected from until 12 pm on Friday, March 31 which will see the two weather warnings combine for a period of time.
