Community projects in and around Helston have recently received funding from the Helston Downsland Charity’s annual grant scheme.

The charity received 19 applications to the fund, which stood at £30,000. Although the grant budget was oversubscribed, funding was given to each and every application that applied.

Community projects that received funding were: 

The Butterfly Wood Project – received £280 for its path to be redone to be accessible for all users.

Helston Netball Club – received £240.84 for walking netball kit.

Music and Dance Education Trust – received £300 for dance and drama workshops.

Handicapped Children’s “Action” Group – received £300 to provide a specialist buggy for a four-year-old resident of Helston.

Helston Friendship Club – received £400 for member entertainment and trips out.

Pentreath LTD – received £700 to run a health and wellbeing fayre.

The Sparke Foundation UK – received £700 to run a mental health support group for young people and adults.

Royal Navy Family and People Support – received £756.20 to run parkour sessions for ten to 18-year-olds.

Helston Age Concern – received £1,000 for repairs and upkeep for its minibus.

Helston Memory Community Café – received £1,200 for bus hire and trips.

One Blue Eye - £15,00 to deliver plastic recycling workshops to schools in Helston.

Helston Community Interest Company - £2,000 to support the distribution of the Discover Helston magazine.

Helly’s International Guitar Festival - £3,000 to subsidise those under 18s to access the event and pay for free lessons.

SKA CIC 4 - received £3,000 for interactive creative play panels at Coronation Park.

Helston Cricket Club - received £3,200 to repair the building and replace doors.

CAST Cornubian Arts & Science Trust – received £3,500 for creative learning programmes for Helston primary schools.

Unlimited Dream Company – received £3,600 pledged for creative workshops for young people.

Helston AFC - received £4322.96 towards facility furnishings and to support the Helston Youth Football trip to Germany.

The charity said: "We anticipate holding an event later this year to celebrate the work that our communities are doing and, where possible, will share further details about progress with these projects, events and resources on our website.
