FREEMASONS in Cornwall have delivered an Easter surprise to children and staff on a children's ward to provide relief to kids who can't spend Easter at home.

The Trelawny Light Blue’s (TLB)  secretary Nick Annear delivered eighty eggs to Laura Roberts, a Staff Nurse, and Healthcare Support Worker Laura Edwards on the Polkerris Children’s Ward on Good Friday, as well as giving several large bars of chocolate for the staff to enjoy.

This is the third year that the TLB Freemasons have donated chocolate treats to children that are staying away from home over the Easter with Nick saying: "Easter is a wonderful time of year for kids, as many of us with children know, so we wanted to give some relief to the children who can not spend Easter at home.

"As Freemasons we are seen to give tens of thousands of pounds to worthy causes, but the simple gift of a chocolate egg, to a child, will instantly put on smile on their little faces which is priceless."

Laura Roberts said: "We are incredibly grateful for the donation of Easter eggs, for the poorly children that are with us for the Easter holidays. It will certainly brighten up their day. Thank you!"

The Trelawny light blues are Freemasons who are members from all the Lodges in Cornwall.

The light blue part refers to the colour of the border of apron that is worn by the member and implies that they have not yet achieved a Provincial status when the apron border changes to a darker blue with gold.

Nick Annear is the secretary of the Trelawny light blues but he is a member of Druids Lodge of Love and Liberality that meets in Redruth
