AN application for the construction of seven new apartments in Falmouth has been granted conditional approval on a site close to Gyllyngvase Beach.
The application, which was submitted by PBWC Architects on behalf of Mr Nigel Carpenter, sought approval for the construction of seven new apartments on Stracey Road, within the boundary of St Michael's Resort and Spa.
The proposed dwellings would be incorporated into an area of the site formerly used as a dwelling known as Tremor which has since been demolished and will consist of one and two bedroom apartments.
The existing site received approval back in 2014 for 14 apartments within the wider St Michael's Resort complex and has now reduced the number of dwellings proposed in the latest application.
The site will also expand the current parking availability from three spaces to six.
In its conditional approval of the proposal, Cornwall Council specified: "Surface water shall be disposed of via a drainage system designed in accordance with the attenuation system outlined.
"The surface water drainage system shall be installed and brought into use before the development hereby permitted is first occupied.
The council then states that the surface water system shall be retained and maintained thereafter to avoid flooding and in the interests of water quality and the residential amenities of future occupiers.
Another condition set out by Cornwall Council states: "All planting, seeding or turfing comprised in the approved scheme of landscaping shall be carried out in the first planting and seeding seasons following the occupation of the building or the completion of the development, whichever is the sooner.
"Any trees or plants which within a period of five years from the completion of the development die, are removed or become seriously damaged or diseased shall be replaced in the next planting season with others of a similar size and species as those originally planted."
It is also outlined that both the proposed parking spaces and privacy screens to the eastern flanks of the apartments should be installed before the apartments are occupied.
