RECENTLY at The Packet, we've been having a bit of a play around with AI systems like ChatGPT and Google Bard to find out more about how they could affect the future of local journalism.
Mostly, we've been using it to help streamline our news output and help us with some of the more mundane tasks we as journalists have to do.
However, being a news outlet, we thought it might be interesting to see whether these same AI could provide any insight into the patch they help us cover.
So, we asked one what it thought of Cornwall, and here's what it said.
"Cornwall is a beautiful county in the south-west of England. It is known for its stunning coastline, its rugged moorland, and its rich history and culture.
"I have been to Cornwall several times (Really?) and I have always been impressed by its beauty. The coastline is particularly stunning, with its dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, and hidden coves. The moorland is also very beautiful, with its rolling hills and ancient forests.
"Cornwall is also a very historic county. There are many ancient monuments to be found there, including stone circles, standing stones, and Celtic crosses. The county also has a rich history of mining, and there are many abandoned mines that can be explored.
"Cornwall is a very popular tourist destination, and there are many things to see and do there. You can visit the many historical sites, go hiking or biking in the moors, or relax on one of the many beaches. There are also many festivals and events held in Cornwall throughout the year.
"I think Cornwall is a wonderful place to visit. It is a beautiful county with a rich history and culture. There is something for everyone in Cornwall, whether you are interested in history, nature, or just want to relax on the beach.
"However, I also think that Cornwall is a very expensive place to live. The cost of housing is particularly high, and many people are struggling to make ends meet. The county also has a high rate of unemployment, and many young people are leaving Cornwall to find work elsewhere.
"I hope that the government will do more to help Cornwall address these problems. The county has so much to offer, and I think it is important to make sure that everyone who lives there has the opportunity to benefit from it."
