Helston’s theme park has revealed that a new version of one of its much-loved rides is returning for the 2023 season – and it will open this bank holiday weekend.

Following the news that the highly popular Balloon Race had been removed earlier this month, Flambards has now said a new ride with the same name has finally arrived and will open this bank holiday weekend to celebrate the birthday of the park's mascot, Ferdi the Fox.

Flambards opened its gates for the Easter weekend earlier this month, with visitors quickly noticing that some of the popular rides and attractions had been removed or were out of use for members of the public.

The Balloon Race was one of these rides, with many visitors upset that the ride was no longer there. However a Flambards spokesperson explained the plan, saying at the time: “The Balloon Race is going to be replaced with a new park attraction.

“However, there is a delay in the supplies of this arriving in time.”

Now the ride has arrived, and those attending the birthday weekend will be among the first to try it.

A party in the park will take place this Sunday to celebrate Ferdi the Fox’s birthday. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic or buy hot and cold food from the café, including drinks.

Ride and attractions will be open throughout the weekend including the SkyRaker, Sky-Force and The Giant White-Knuckle ride for those who enjoy a more ‘thrilling’ experience.

Other rides and attractions include The Hornet, the Log Flume, Ferdi’s Indoor Play, and the Victorian Village will be open for visitors all weekend.

Areas currently closed are The CoolZone, which is being redeveloped into an indoor seating and entertainment area and will open in June, and The Space Race, which is closed for future development.
