A young motorcyclist has died in a crash near one of Falmouth's beaches yesterday evening.
Police were called at around 7.10pm last night (Friday, April 28) to reports of a single-vehicle collision on Swanpool Road in Falmouth.
The road stretches from Bickland Water Road at the top of the town and runs past Falmouth Golf Club, down to Swanpool Beach and past the lake. Police have not specified which part of the road the crash took place on.
The rider of a silver Yamaha motorbike, a man in his 20s from Falmouth, was confirmed to have died at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Police have said formal identification is yet to take place but the man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.
Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police's Roads Policing Team were called to investigate and establish how the collision occurred.
This led to the road being closed for several hours whilst this took place, and police have thanked the public for their patience.
A force spokesperson said: "Anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area and may have dash-cam, doorbell or CCTV footage that could assist the investigation, is asked to contact police.
"Please report any relevant information to us via the force website or calling 101 quoting log 809 of 28 April."
