The owners of the derelict 'pink hotel' on the Roseland Peninsula have announced a public consultation over its future regeneration.
Revised plans for the former Pendower Beach House Hotel, known as the ‘pink hotel’, will go on display at the public consultation event on June 5.
The plans will show the regeneration of the disused and largely derelict former hotel.
The consultation will be held in the courtyard next to Shallikabooky Beach Hut Café at Pendower Beach (TR2 5LW), from 2pm-7pm.
Local residents, members of the public, and stakeholders will be given the opportunity to view, ask questions about and comment on the proposed plans, which are designed to breathe life back into what has become a sadly neglected site.
The aim of the consultation is to gain feedback on the new plans, which are much changed from those outlined in 2019/20.
Removing all previously proposed residential apartments, the latest plans are 25% smaller in scale, and reflect feedback from the Parish Councils of Philleigh, Gerrans and Veryan, and the Friends of Pendower Beach organisation.
The owners say the new plans are designed to protect the sensitive local environment and to provide year-round economic benefit to the local economy.
The plans for a destination aparthotel consist of a reduced, two-storey scheme encompassing 23 two and three bed family self-catering holiday-let suites, a public restaurant with 40 internal and 32 external covers, and a café and shop for use by self-catering visitors and beachgoers during the day and evening.
Commenting on plans, Johnny Goldsmith, local businessman and founder of PBHH Ltd, commented: “The public consultation will provide an opportunity to view the outline plans for the aparthotel, restaurant, shop and cafe.
"This will include access to physical models, CGIs, presentation boards, and site tours.
"Penryn-based Koha Architects as well as experts in planning, ecology, landscape architecture, transport, civil engineering, and geotechnical design will be on hand to answer questions.
“Having listened carefully to all previous feedback, we believe that the new, reduced and significantly revised plans strike a good balance between protecting the local environment and providing an economically viable business that will bring both benefit to local communities, and enhanced amenities for users of Pendower Beach.
“Combined with necessary £1m stabilisation work to protect road access to Pendower Beach and its slipway - future proofing Rocky Lane against coastal erosion for future generations - we hope that the new plans, which include extensive work to protect and enrich the natural environment through our environmental custodianship commitment, will be well received.”
