A TEENAGER who pleaded guilty to driving without a licence has been sentenced by a court in Cornwall.
The 17-year-old male teeanger from Hayle, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in front of magistrates at Truro Magistrates' Court on Monday, May 22 on one count of driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
The offence took place on Carwin Rise in Hayle where the teen drove a Piaggio 50 CC moped on a road otherwise than in accordance with a licence authorising him to do so.
The teenager pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared in front of magistrates.
During his sentencing, the boy was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 28 days and had his driving record endorsed.
He was also fined £33 and made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £26 as well as pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The court noted how the teenager's guilty plea had been taken into account when imposing the sentence.
According to the Sentencing Council, the maximum fine a person can receive for driving othersise than in accordance with a licence is unlimited, with offences ranging in categories from Level one to Level five, with the latter being the most severe.
