The silly season it appears is in full swing as this driver found out to his cost when their car was swamped by the tide.

St Agnes Coastguard Search & Rescue Team were called out today Sunday, May 28 at 8.29am to a car engulfed by the tide at Trevaunance Beach, St Agnes.

They were called to make sure no one was in the car and everyone was out and to make the car safe.

They stayed there until the vehicle was safely recovered.

Posting on Facebook the team said: "Team tasked to the Trevaunance Beach car wash to make sure all occupants were out of the vehicle and safe.

"We remained on scene whilst recovery efforts were made and the vehicle was finally removed.

"Team stood down and returned to station at 1019hrs.

" ‘You can’t park there sir!’ "

The incident comes as thousands of people flock to the Cornish coast for the Bank Holiday weekend.

Quite why this person decided it was a good idea to go on the beach is not known or whether it wasa holidaymaker or a local. Our bets on the former!
