POLICE in Cornwall are appealing for information after a single-vehicle collision killed a 44-year-old man and left a road closed for seven hours.
The incident took place in the early hours of Friday morning at around 3:30am on Carclaze Road in St Austell at the junction of the A391.
The incident involved a white Yamaha motorbike and officers from the Roads Policing Team attended the scene of the collision to investigate and establish how the collision occurred.
The road was closed for seven hours and police are now appealing for any witnesses and anyone in the area with relevant dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 3.30am on Friday 16 June on Carclaze Road, St Austell to a report of a single vehicle collision.
"It was reported that the incident involved a white Yamaha motorbike and occurred at the junction of the A391.
"A 44-year-old man from St Austell was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.
"Officers from the Roads Policing Team attended the collision to investigate and establish how the collision occurred. The road was closed for seven hours whilst this took place and we would like to thank the public for their patience.
"Officers are appealing for any witnesses and anyone in the area with relevant dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell footage to report it to us.
