It's been a while since people living in and around Helston have heard the regular sound of jets flying around the skies.
Since 2022, there hasn't been the usual loud rumble of the jets flying out of Culdrose after the Royal Navy Hawks retired from service.

However, this morning (Monday) people were surprised to hear loud jets flying around Helston and Porthleven, with members of the public posting on Facebook to share their excitement about hearing the loud aircraft.
Tara Stuthbridge wrote: “How cool was that to hear some impressive-sounding jets again,” with others commenting it was "great to see and hear the jets."
However, it was a different story for one person's pet, with its owner saying: “It woke up my cat!”

The aircraft were F35 jets, which were in Cornwall to mark the start of this year’s Armed Forces Week, with a National Flag raising ceremony this morning on Gylly Beach in Falmouth ahead of Armed Forces Day this Saturday.
On June 24 there will be a display of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the Red Arrows, the RAF Falcons Military parachute display team, and other masters of the skies taking place between 2.20pm and 5pm.
