School pupils from across Cornwall have taken part in a charity run which saw them raise £12,000, with half the money going to Penhaligon's Friends.
The pupils from across The Rainbow Multi Academy Trust have taken part in the fundraiser with £6,000 going to the Cornish charity supporting bereaved children, young people, parents, and carers throughout the county.
The Rainbow Multi-Academy Trust comprises of 11 primary schools: Bishop Bronescombe, Grampound Road, Grampound with Creed, Ladock, Penponds, St Ives Infant, St Meriadoc CE Infant, St Meriadoc CE Junior, St Michael's, Troon and Veryan.
The charity is close to the hearts of many in trust community and was selected with overwhelming support from everyone.
The other half of the funds will be used by the schools to invest in resources and experience for their pupils.
It was the first trust-wide event with every school participating. Samantha Jones, CEO of the trust said: “We are so delighted with the success of this Trust-wide initiative and incredibly humbled by everyone’s generosity, which is a real testament to the amazing community we have here.
“I know how much everyone enjoyed the day, and it was great to bring everyone together for such an important cause.”
Polly Langford adds: “We are so grateful for the support of the pupils and families from The Rainbow Multi-Academy Trust – what an amazing amount of money raised! We have had a very busy year, with over 1,000 bereaved children referred for support and the money raised through the colour run is enough to run our Family Memory Days for a year.
“Your support makes a huge difference to us as a small charity, thank you so much to everyone involved!”
