Saturday saw one of the largest fields of the year at Falmouth Golf Club, where 147 members turned out for residing club president Ian “Henry” Churcher to play for the President's Putter, writes Keith Rashleigh.
On the day, the course seemed tricky for a lot of the players, but talented youngster Archie Fox managed to master the conditions better than anyone as he scored 41 points, beating in form Steve Bailey on count back.
Last year’s captain Nicky Chinn was in fine form scoring 40 points coming third, with Ronnie May fourth and Luke Geach fifth.
Best lady was Carmel Connors with 37 points with Cristina Stead second with 36 points, beating Kathy Wells on count back.
Best junior on the day was Rory Kennedy.
Nearest the pin for the ladies was Lynn Wilson on the second Lyn Hodges on the 18th. For the men it was Ronnie May on the fourth and Dave Brunton on the seventh.
President Ian Churcher said: "Many thanks to everyone who took part in the President's Putter on Saturday.
"A big thank you to everyone who kindly donated prizes to our chosen charity this year, Sasha Would Have Loved It.
"We raised £1,900 in total. A special thank you to Chris, Letitia, Gary, Jane, Rick, Cathy and all the staff who helped make it a successful day."
