Plans to build more than 80 new homes near Camborne are among the latest planning applications submitted to Cornwall Council in the week beginning July 3.
Every week more than 100 applications are validated by Cornwall Council and we have selected some of the more interesting proposals.
All planning applications submitted to the council have to be validated and are available for inspection by the public. Anyone is also allowed to submit comments about the applications – whether in support or objection.
The majority of applications are decided by planning officers at the council under delegated powers. However, some applications will go before elected councillors who sit on planning committees. No dates have been set for when the planning applications below will be determined. They can be viewed by going to the planning portal on Cornwall Council’s website.
Over 80 new homes, Camborne
A company called Salboy (Tuckingmill) Limited has applied for outline permission to build 87 houses on land at Church View Farm, Tuckingmill, near Camborne.
The application also proposes the conversion of an existing building to six offices alongside a cafe unit, conversion of packing/storage rooms to form six dwellings, demolition of existing storage buildings as well as highway, public realm, sustainable urban drainage and infrastructure works, and a public open space with a new access to Tuckingmill Pavilion.
New homes, St Blazey
Penk Architecture Ltd has applied to demolish a pair of semi-detached houses and replace them with eight new homes on a site at Doubletrees, St Blazey, near St Austell. The existing house, formerly a single, large two-storey property was subdivided and extended some years ago and has been unoccupied for the past ten years or more. As a result the property has fallen into serious disrepair with parts now barricaded and out of bounds due to structural decay and risk of serious collapse and injury.
The proposal will involve the demolition of the original house and the construction of eight new high efficiency homes within the existing walled boundary of the site.
New homes, Goonhavern
Laurence Associates, on behalf of applicant Craig Scott, have applied for permission to build five homes on land north east of a house called Penpol on Halt Road, Goonhavern, near Perranporth.
The agent said: “This will deliver new homes to support the role and function of the local community of Goonhavern. The proposed houses are intended to be contemporary in appearance but to reference rural buildings as well as the local Cornish vernacular through their form and materials.” They would be sold on the open market.
New homes, Crowlas
Pre-application advice has been sought for a proposal to build five houses, for sale on the open market, on land south Of Elm Cottage, Crowlas, near Penzance.
Kota, Porthleven
This application is for a first floor terrace to create better access to a dwelling above the popular Kota Restaurant on the Harbour Head in Porthleven.
It would create a better access to the living space, which is currently accessed through a working kitchen.
