A RESCUE operation is currently underway after a huge cargo ship containing cars and lorries reportedly lost power off the coast of Cornwall.
The Mazarine cargo ship, which is approximately three miles south of Porthcurno, is reported as having lost power and is currently moving slowly near Wolf Rock lighthouse off the Isles of Scilly.
The Falmouth Tug Mercia is currently on its way to the vessel to take the ship into tow and should be on scene in around an hour and a half.
Two lifeboats from Sennen and Penlee Lifeboat were sent along with a Coastguard helicopter in case the crew needed to be evacuated
Both Sennen and Penlee Lifeboat are currently still on scene and a second helicopter is currently standing by.
According to the RNLI, the crew on board are uninjured and safe.
An RNLI spokesperson said: "RNLI all-weather lifeboats from Sennen Cove and Penlee were tasked to an incident south of Land's End."
A spokesperson for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: "HM Coastguard is coordinating the response after a vessel off the Isles of Scilly reported losing power near Wolf Rock lighthouse.
"The crew on board are reported to be uninjured and safe. A tug has been sent to assist.
"A coastguard helicopter has been sent along with Penlee and Sennen Cove RNLI lifeboats in case the crew needs to be evacuated. A second helicopter is standby in case it is needed."
