The organiser of one of Helston’s biggest festivals has said he is "struggling to find the words" following a successful three-day event.
Helstonbury made its welcome return this weekend at the Blue Anchor pub in Helston, Cornwall. The three-day festival showcases the musical talent of local bands and singers.
Hundreds of people made their way to the historic pub in Coinagehall Street, for the event which started on Friday (July 14) and finished on Sunday (July 16).
Helstonbury has been held nearly every year since 2001. During the Covid-19 pandemic it was cancelled in 2000 and 2001 following Government guidelines. However, it returned in 2022 and has since gone on to raise thousands of pounds for local charities.
More than 50 acts including Georgia Lewis, Culdrose Military Wives Choir, Laura’s Dream and Bobby’s Helmet took the three stages to perform for the crowds.
The event was organised by Paul Turton in 2001 when it was initially meant to be a one night gig to raise money for a young lady who needed funds for her wheelchair. This festival has now celebrated its 21st year.
Paul told the Packet: “It was an amazing weekend. I'm struggling to find the words that capture it all.”
Members of the Culdrose Military Wives Choir have paid tribute to Paul and the rest of the Helstonbury team after receiving a grant from Helstonbury towards the purchase of purple Santa hats, which will keep them warm when singing festive songs outdoors in December.

A spokesperson said on Sunday: “The choir really enjoyed singing at the Blue Anchor’s annual Helstonbury festival today, July 16.
“There were a few tears singing a couple of tribute songs to their beautiful friend Clair.
“Culdrose Military Wives choir is extremely grateful to Paul Turton and the Helstonbury team for everything that they do for the town and especially for funding the Santa hats.”
Clair Day who was a member of the Culdrose Military Wives choir sadly passed away in 2022.
