Four eateries in Cornwall have been named among the best in the UK by The Sunday Times including one in Penryn and one in Falmouth.
The Times' list, recognising the top 49 places to eat in the UK this summer, include among them Verdant Seafood Bar and Bango Kitchen as some of the county's finest.
Introducing the list The Sunday Times says: "Secret supper clubs, hidden farms and perfect pub gardens: welcome to your little black book of summer recommendations from Britain’s best chefs and restaurateurs.
"From seaside stalwarts to tucked-away gems, we asked them for their favourite places to eat when the sun comes out, and what they order when they’re there."
The venues in Cornwall were chosen by Simon Stallard, chef and owner of Hidden Hut and Standard Inn, Portscatho.
He recommended the Verdant Seafood Bar for its small plates and craft beer – "There’s not much not to like," he said. "We head to the seafood bar at lunch (verdantbrewing.co).
Of Bango Kitchen in Commercial Road in Penryn Simon says: "Think the freshest sashimi, lip-sticking ramen, shredded meat bao buns. On the riverside in an old warehouse, I love the vibe of this place. Always busy, but always worth the wait." (facebook.com/bangostreetkitchen).
While of the The Idle Rocks, St Mawes he said: "The waterfront terrace at this hotel is the best place to catch the sunset. We love sipping a negroni in the early evening" (idlerocks.com).
Also in the list was Nancarrow Farm near Truro of which Simon says: "A hidden Cornish gem tucked away in the countryside. Feast nights celebrate great produce they grow."

Reacting to their place in list Verdant Brewery said it was really happy to see its little Seafood Bar in Falmouth being named one of the best places to eat this summer in the UK by the Sunday Times.
"Our idea from the outset was to create a cosy space – one that sucks you in so you just go for a quick beer and end up ordering the whole menu," they said. "Our talented chefs have put together a delicious, hearty small plate menu loaded with fresh local fish and clever little twists on traditional French, Spanish and British cooking. We’ve worked really hard on the small details to make the place as approachable as possible to everyone."
Adam Robertson (Director at Verdant Brewing Co): "We love the Seafood Bar, it's often crossed our minds to relocate and make it larger. But, that would detract from what it is: small, intimate and very special.
"The venue has been a Seafood Bar since the 70's and when we took over the decision to maintain that was easy, we simply installed our Verdant beers and a wonderful new chef in Andrew Lowe, who has been with us since day one. Long may it continue."
