A LISKEARD man who was found guilty of harassment and sending indecent, obscene, or menacing messages has been sentenced by a court in Cornwall. 

Bryan Todd Ward, aged 41, of Newton Court in Dobwalls, Liskeard, appeared in front of magistrates at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on Monday, July 17 on two counts of harassment without violence and one count of sending by public communication network an offensive or indecent or obscene or menacing message or matter. 

The offences took place between July 2021 and April 2022 and Ward pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him on January 1, 2022.

The first offence took place between July 16, 2021, and September 9, 2021, at Liskeard where Ward sent, by means of a public electronic communications network, 64 messages that were grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene, or menacing character. 

Then, between March 21, 2022, and April 6, 2022, at Dobwalls in Liskeard, Ward pursued a course of conduct that amounted to the harassment of two female victims by sending emails, making multiple telephone calls, and leaving a number of answerphone messages.

Finally, on April 20, 2022, Ward pursued a course of conduct that amounted to the harassment of another female victim by making multiple telephone calls and leaving an answerphone message. 

He was found guilty on July 17, 2023. 

During his sentencing, Ward was made the subject of a criminal behaviour order for two years and was also fined £300 and made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £120 as well as pay costs of £400 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
