THE new owners of a pub near Penryn have extended their thanks to locals for welcoming them during their first week.

Eve Busby, who recently took on the Halfway House in Rame Cross, near Penryn, full-time has told The Packet how much she appreciates the warm welcome afforded to her by locals, having moved on from The Three Tuns in St Keverne.

Eve, and her partner Pete, had been running both pubs simultaneously for a month before moving to The Halfway House full-time earlier this month.

Eve told The Packet: “It’s been great, it’s been a really good few weeks, and we’ve been made to feel very welcome. It’s been very busy, with locals and holiday makers and lots of the locals are coming back in."

“I was running both pubs for about a month, and that was quite tricky for both us and the staff at both establishments. The staff have all been amazing and I couldn't have done it without all of their support and hard work - thank you!"

“The Halfway House appealed to me because it’s a bigger pub, has more capacity and has a great food reputation that we intend to build further on. It’s more manageable for me, being on my own running it.

"There’s a couple going into The Tuns which is better for them as there’s accommodation there, there isn’t accommodation here - which means I get a lie in again! The location is also much better for us as I used to be Assistant Head Teacher at a local primary school (Halwin School) and have lots of friends and family in the area to support us."

Eve also explained how she would be making a few changes in the coming months.

“There are lots of locals coming back as we’re allowing drinkers back in now. It is a very food-orientated pub, but drinkers are most welcome too."

“We’ve created a little area over by the fireplace which is for drinkers and have some new bar stools on order so that we can create a nice social atmosphere. We’ve also got a carvery unit due to arrive very soon and will be returning back to the well-renowned carvery that this place used to be known for, keep your eyes peeled for more info on our social pages!"

“We’ve got the field out the back which is for campervans and motorhomes, with electric hook-ups which we want to develop a little bit more in the near future to make this more appealing."

“I would like to thank the locals of Rame for making us feel very welcome and for giving us lots of support and great feedback."

Eve also wanted to express her thanks to the community of St Keverne over the last year and wishes the new landlords, Jeremy and Naomi of The Three Tuns, and all the staff, all the best for the future.
