THE family of a young man who lost his life to suicide has thanked members of the public for their support after a successful mental health charity event last month.
Since 2019, the family of Luke Connolly have held Lukefest in his memory following his death in 2018.
The event which takes place at the Queen’s Arms in Breage raises money for mental health charities Man Down and Your Voice Cornwall CIC.
Bands and artists which performed at the event included Longtide, The Dirty Repeats, Mr and Mrs Blue Sky, Toby Webb, Babybrew, Marmalade Shed, Broken Down and The Guilty Pleasures.
Luke’s family have thanked members of the public and the bands which performed at the event which raised £3,130 which will now be split between the two charities.
Jan Taylor, Amy Connolly and brother Jack Connolly have said the event was a ‘blast’ and hoped the members of the public had a great time.
In a post on Facebook shared on Wednesday (August 2), the family said: “Wow, wow, wow, we as a family would like to say a huge thank you to all the band, and to each and every one of you that attended and supported us at Lukefest.
“What a blast, we hope you had the best time.”
Today (August 3) marks five years since Luke's death. His family have paid tribute to him on Facebook. They said: “A wave of emotions already today.
“So heartbroken to be without you, but so grateful that we’re lucky enough to of had someone who gave us so much to remember.
“So many memories, so much laughter and so much light. You are cherished and missed so much Luke. Nothing and nobody, not even time, will change that.
“We love you always.”
