FOLLOWING a successful village art competition held in Porthleven earlier this year, organisers have announced a children’s art competition will take place throughout August.
During Spring 2023, the inaugural Porthleven Harbour Art Prize was described as a resounding success, with almost 100 entries, an incredibly high standard, and excellent sales making it become an annual future event according to organisers.
It was planned that a Children’s Art Prize competition was due to run at the same time as Porthleven Harbour Art Prize, but due to an unfortunate combination of factors including exam timetables, it was not possible.

However, organisers promised to postpone rather than cancel and have now announced that the Porthleven Children’s Art Prize will run throughout August 2023 in the village.
The Children’s Art Prize will be open to locals and visitors alike and will have a broad theme of ‘Porthleven Summer’ which can be interpreted in any way and using any materials.
There are three age groups: Up to eight years, nine to 13, and 14 to 18. Prizes include £50 plus art supplies for the two lower age groups and £100 cash for the 14-18 age group.
Entries will be judged by local artists on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, and exhibited in The Netloft, Porthleven during Porthleven Arts Festival between October 5 and 8.
The Porthleven Children’s Art Prize comes under the umbrella of Porthleven Arts Community, a Community Interest Company which supports arts, innovation and creativity in the widest sense and presents the annual autumn Porthleven Arts Festival.
