A POPULAR Japanese restaurant brand is preparing to open its second supermarket kiosk in Cornwall - this time in Helston.
Helston Tesco has revealed that the store will welcome a YO! Sushi kiosk, with job vacancies now being advertised online.
The new kiosk will be the second one to open in Cornwall. In October 2022, YO! Sushi opened its 200th kiosk, in the Tesco supermarket on Garras Warf, Truro.
Before serving its dishes to people in Cornwall, the nearest Yo! Sushi restaurant available was based in Drake’s Circus shopping complex in Plymouth where the dishes are delivered to diners by a conveyor belt.

On a post on its website, Yo! Sushi says they are “all about fresh flavoursome, authentic Japanese food” and “Sushi is what we are known for.” The post reads: “We burst onto the restaurant scene in 1997 when we shook up London’s Soho and showed the UK a new way of eating.
“Part of that was the ‘kaiten’ conveyor belt and colour-coded dishes which made our name. We believe in eating in colour.
“Fast forward to today and we have close to 100 restaurants all over the planet.
“We’re all about fresh flavoursome, authentic Japanese food. Sushi is what we’re known for.
“We also have a mouth-watering range of hot food street food available – from traditional classics to innovative fusion dishes. All packed with rich, aromatic favours and all-natural ingredients.”
The new YO! kiosk will join Rowe’s Cornish Bakers, which opened in the Helston store in September 2022.
A spokesperson for Tesco told the Packet: “We’re always keen to offer a wide range of the best services for our customers and are pleased that we will soon be offering YO! Sushi in our Helston Superstore.”
